"A Mercedes must be silver, like a Ferrari red," says the vernacular for many years.
Silver like a silver arrow or silver, like this elegant SLC Coupé from 1980. A classic per se. First admitted on 30.04.1980 in the Hessian Dreieich (Germany), owned by a hotelier family. A powerful 5-liter engine with a full 240hp / 176kW, a body styling for a whole vehicle generation and an elegant interior, here held in solid cognac-colored check fabric with leather, the sporty individual spirit of the early 1980s accordingly. Whether 450SLC 5.0 or 500SLC, the transition was seamless, the engine could just be topped by the Mercedes 450SEL 6.9. In 1984, the elegant coupe was delivered to far-off Japan.
The booming economy made it possible for many Japanese business people to adorn themselves with fine vehicles from German quality production. Most of the cars were hardly driven and served more as a status symbol. So this 5.0-liter coupe remained in Japan until the summer of 2015, before being brought back to its native country, Germany. We had sold the car to a loyal customer of our house, who has now re-opened this elegant coupe due to a change in his collection.
