This Mercedes-Benz 250/8 was already delivered in 1970 with the so popular 2.8 litre engine and had an output of 140 hp/103KW. The car was delivered in autumn 1970 to its first owner directly in the Sindelfingen factory. Before the car was shipped to the USA, he wanted to make a small round trip through Germany and the neighbouring countries. In accordance with the regulations, he had the first after-sales service carried out with 621 miles/994 km in the Swiss city of Geneva, as the original after-sales service booklet impressively confirms. At the end of November, the car received its second service in Oakland California/USA. James and Phyllis Barthman probably already owned this elegant limousine at this time. James Barthman was a highly respected electrical specialist. He kept the car until his death in March 2018. You can clearly see that the car has been well looked after all these years and has been driven very little. The engine runs silky smooth, the transmission shifts pleasantly correctly. The paintwork has thicknesses of between 120 and 170 µ all round, which is a good indication of the original paintwork.
